Approximately 55,000 homes have so far been impacted by the weather, with their belongings and dwellings destroyed.

Persistent storms over the recent period have intensified the extremely difficult situation of the hundreds of thousands of displaced residents in the region, according to aid agencies.

"Horrendous" Night Poses Grave Threats

A spokesman detailed the weather overnight as "terrible", with rain so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the terrain.

"The recent weather was truly difficult for the residents. The storms were so powerful... And the winds were so powerful," stated the spokesperson.

Officials express extreme concern that young ones residing in tents in wet attire will succumb to hypothermia and other sicknesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Damage

Medical officials have confirmed that one baby has died from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses due to the severe weather.

Further statements suggest a higher fatality count. Spokespeople said that multiple structures had totally fallen and many others had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families harmed by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency shelters severely flooded.
  • Many people compelled to relocate again.

Assistance Operations Considered Insufficient

Agencies have stepped up distribution of tents, bedding and garments since the halt in hostilities started, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"We are operating tirelessly to deliver that assistance and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the needs is so vast that we still have many thousands of individuals and minors who are really struggling every night," cautioned one spokesperson.

Future Challenges and Agreement Provisions

The second phase of the truce includes plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the withdrawal of personnel, and other provisions.

Aid organizations have underscored the necessity for "expanded and ongoing aid to respond to urgent and future requirements."

The conflict was triggered by an assault in late 2023. Following military operations have led to a significant number of fatalities in the territory, as per medical figures.
