Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
